School started a couple weeks ago, so Ive been pretty busy. Im actually taking two law classes and enjoying a reduced workload while putting more hours into the business that were launching for our Masters Thesis. On weekends, however, Im back in Austin with Roy. This past weekend we drove up to Dallas for the Texas State Fair.

The Texas State Fair has supposedly run since the 1880s so its quite an institution. The best thing about fairs is fair food, of course specifically, fried food. With fried avocados and fried cheesecake, we though that Californias LA County Fair was pretty advanced in the fried food domain but they had nothing on Texas, which runs an annual contest leading to all kinds of fried food innovations. Heres a partial list of fried food offerings we glimpsed at the fair:

  • Fried fritos pie
  • Fried tres leches
  • Fried biscuits and gravy
  • Fried Thanksgiving dinner
  • Fried banana pudding
  • Fried steak sandwich
  • Fried green tomatoes
  • Fried beer
  • Fried Cuban rolls
